Lolita

"Without ReVive, I would be living on the street."

Meet Lolita. Lolita loves to ride her bike. It gives her a sense of agency, grants real freedom, helps to manage pain, and allows her to get some exercise. She likes to ride her bike to community picnics and events.  Riding a bike gives Lolita a sense of purpose.  And Lolita needs purpose. Lolita lives with chronic pain and has teetered under the weight of substance use for many years.  Before she came to ReVive, Lolita was living on the streets.  Lolita fondly remembers seeing her apartment at Cressey House. She says,

When I got the key, I felt a peace come over me.”

And that peace doesn’t end when Lolita leaves her apartment. Lolita actively participates at ReVive’s Engagement Center. She says,

At ReVive, I don’t feel judged. They care about me and treat me like a friend. When I have a problem, they help me develop a solution.”

Lolita has major challenges, there is no doubt. But often the more time one spends with community members like Lolita, the less one sees baggage and the more one notices just how much they have to carry.

The team at ReVive connected Lolita to Medically Assisted Treatment to help with her substance use, transportation support to get there and around the city to access multiple health services, and with a partner to get her a bike fit to her needs. With help, Lolita can live the life of purpose that she desires.
