Together We Learn, Together We Heal
September 30, 2009
The month of September was nothing short of amazing. In observance of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, Cathedral Shelter’s Higgins House and Outpatient alumni, staff, and program participants came together for a Friday night alumni celebration on September 18. The celebration applauded the achievements of men and women who continue to walk forward on the road of sobriety.
Speaking of the road of sobriety, one might say that its geographic location is Douglas Park. On September 19, Cathedral Shelter and many others participated in the 2009 Walk For Recovery, hosted by Chicago Department of Public Health and Congressman Danny K. Davis.
“The Recovery Walk…was another wonderful opportunity to affirm the power of the God in our lives,” said Kevin McCullough, Cathedral Shelter Interim Executive Director, who certainly had his walking shoes on at the Douglas Park community empowerment event.
