Nomination Committee Presents Board and Officer Nominations for 2010

Cathedral Shelter of Chicago’s Nomination Committee are presenting the following individuals for consideration to be elected as at-large members to the Board of Directors at the agency’s Annual Meeting on January 21:
Christine Jacob
Christine Jacob serves as the Senior Manager of Corporate Sponsorship at the Mayor’s Office of Special Events in Chicago. Christine is responsible for raising corporate funding for the City’s major festivals including the Taste of Chicago, Chicago Blues Festival and the Chicago Air and Water Show. During her 10-year tenure, she has been instrumental in securing funding from top national organizations such as Boeing, Macy’s, Clear Channel, ComEd and the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before her service with the City of Chicago, Christine produced fundraising events for non-profit organizations including AidsCare, DuPage Easter Seals and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. Christine graduated in 1992 from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Journalism and resides in Albany Park with her husband and their young son.
The Reverend Julianne Buenting
The Reverend Julianne Buenting is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Saint Xavier University who has over 25 years experience in professional nursing, midwifery and education. She is a priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago serving as Priest Associate at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chicago. She is a part-time PhD student in theology and ethics at Chicago Theological Seminary in Hyde Park.
Terry Scrogum
Terry Scrogum had served as a board member of the Illinois Arts Council since 1991 before being appointed to his current position as its Executive Director in March 2005. He came to the Council from the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, Illinois where he served as fundraiser and first executive director. Earlier, during his 12-year tenure at The Hope School (now The Hope Institute for Children and Families), also in Springfield, he held numerous management positions ranging from development and community relations to deputy executive director. Previously, Scrogum served in various managerial and senior staff capacities in Illinois state government including advising two governors on arts and cultural affairs. He also held senior staff positions, specializing in external affairs, with the Secretary of State, the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Public Aid. He began his career in state government as a staff member of the Illinois General Assembly. He has served the boards of numerous not for profit arts and social service organizations and currently serves on the board of the USO of Illinois. He was recently named to the board of directors of the National Association of State Arts Agencies and has served as a peer reviewer for state and national arts agencies. He has a B.S. in psychology from Illinois State University.
Sandya Dandamudi
Owner of Granite Innovation that is one of the leading companies in natural stone supply and installations in the Chicago area. Sandya has an ongoing interest in faith based issues and inter-faith dialogues. In the past she was a Trustee and Vice Chair of the Council for the Parliament of the World’s Religions from 1995-2000. Sandya was also on the Advisory Boards for the Matters of Faith Series for NPR, 1998 and Family & Religion (a book) for the University of Chicago Divinity School, 1999. An articulate speaker and advocate for inter-faith dialogue she has appeared as a panelist and presenter in several schools, conferences, seminars, TV and radio programs. Sandya is currently on the Board for the United States Service Organization (USO). She is a Director of the Indo American Medical Foundation, a joint effort of the University of Illinois and MRD Associates to provide medical access to India’s rural poor.
Carol Moseley Braun
American politician and lawyer who represented Illinois in the United States Senate from 1993 to 1999. She was the first and, as of 2009, the only, African-American woman elected to the United States Senate the first woman to defeat an incumbent senator in an election, and the first, and to date, only female Senator from Illinois. From 1999 until 2001, she was the United States Ambassador to New Zealand. She was a candidate for the Democratic nomination during the 2004 U.S. campaign for President of the United States.
Dianne Peterson
Independent Consultant. Diane Peterson is President of Accuworks Consulting and works as an Independent Contractor providing IT consulting services for large organizations in various industries. Diane works with her clients on IT initiatives to increase revenue, reduce costs and improve business processes. Diane’s clients have included JetBlue Airlines, MB Financial, H2Cool, Sothebys, National Association of Independent Insurers and National Association of Realtors, to name a few. Prior to starting her own business, Diane worked at CNA Insurance as IT Director for 3 years. She also worked at Andersen as a business consultant for 11 years in Chicago, IL and London, England. Diane graduated in 1991 from Iowa State University with a BBA in Management Information Systems and currently lives in Lakeview with her husband and dog named Bella.
Jim Paddleford
A realtor for over a decade and presently with Prudential Rubloff Properties, Jim has been actively involved in the creation and implementation of many innovative and successful marketing initiatives including retail marketing, business, public relations, and real estate. Holding a degree in Communications and Business, Jim has founded and grown three successful businesses prior to his work with real estate. Jim has been actively involved with the Episcopal Church in Seattle, Washington.
Kevin J. Cavanaugh
Kevin works for the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs where he administer the Veteran’s Cash Grant Program, a program that provides financial assistance to groups working with Illinois veterans. He is a planning partner and founding member of the Cook County Veterans Treatment Court where he currently advise the Court on a wide range of issues and also assists veterans with other than honorable discharges in accessing services. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, holding the rank of Sergeant, from 2001 to 2009. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Augustana College.
