July 23, 2008

Beneficiaries of the affected treatment centers throughout Chicago said the programs have been vital in getting their lives back on track. Marilyn Love, a tenant of the Cathedral Shelter of Chicago, said the program helped her earn her GED, get a job and move into an apartment. She plans to start attending college next month.

“It really helps the community,” Love said. “It takes a lot of people off the street. It also helps with housing. It helps people get a job. So I feel that the budget being cut into is going to damage the programs that are doing so much good for people.”
