Cathedral Shelter’s Executive Director In Print
December 6, 2007
The Rev. Glenn Chalmers was interviewed for the cover article entitled “Oh, behave”. Alternately entitled “Barrel of gaffes”, the article attempts to guide readers through difficult social situations. Rev. Chalmers addressed what one should do when a panhandler asks for money. “You don’t want to give somebody money, since you’re afraid it will fuel their addiction,” says the Rev. Chalmers. “On the other hand, you don’t know the individual, so it could make a difference in terms of them eating for the day or not.” For more of his response, check out the article in the November 29-December 5, 2007 edition of Time Out Chicago.
Rev. Chalmers’ words could also be found in the November 2, 2007 edition of The Gazette. His letter to the editor was in response to the recent media preoccupation with celebrity rehab stories.
