Cathedral Shelter Joins Hundreds at the Rally Against Budget Cuts
June 19, 2009
Cathedral Shelter of Chicago joined hundreds of protestors at the Thompson Center on June 18 in a rally against state budget cuts. Clients, staff and supporters of Cathedral Shelter and other social service agencies urged state legislators to restore funding for critical services and not cut the needs of struggling families and individuals out of its budget.
Cathedral Shelter, itself, is at stake of loosing over $240,000 in state funding for its addiction recovery treatment home and supportive housing program for homeless families and individuals if lawmakers do not revise its budget before July 1.
